Thanksgiving is the time of the year where we count our blessings and express our gratitude. But reading this quote the other day made me think… what if gratitude is just a way to keep us connected?
“Give thanks for unknown blessings already on the way.”
Native American Saying.
It’s easy to say thank you for a sweater, a great meal, a great grade in school. It’s much harder to hold the same sentimentality for something that has not yet physically manifested. When we give thanks for something unknown, intangible, gratitude becomes an open feeling.
And yet, as I know from my own experience, a feeling is a vital requirement to pull energy into the direction of our dreams. When we feel grateful, we silently offer respect and appreciation. Gratitude harnesses and crystallizes energy on its path to physicality, but not in a way that we can see (yet) but rather feel via an connection to something more powerful. After all, who are we thanking?
In my life, there have been times when circumstances transpired as they did, much to my shock and amazement, I knew that “this thing /event /outcome,” was a blessing simply to me, and could be completely worthless to someone else. But to me, it meant the world. I am thankful for the connection that made that happen.
The idea of “unknown blessings,” derived from a “trusted” connection opens a channel and pathway for us to learn to further trust the universe and connects to us in a very personal manner. Without us pulling any strings, it shows us that everything connects in ways that we cannot see.
Finally, who doesn’t love the idea of “blessings already on the way?” This is the highest level of trust. The more good shows up, the more I trust. But the notion that blessings are en route is deeper still as it connects us to our worthiness. It grounds us and fills us in knowing that to allow blessings to come into our life, we need to offer only a deep sense of gratitude because our worthiness, connection, and trust in the universe do the rest!
As time goes on, our thanks become less about material things, and more about the intangible things that we can share together, like a meal, a holiday, a laugh, or a blog. This element requires a richer connectedness with others as synchronicities and coincidences swirl us together in fate. (If you are reading this, it was meant for you!)
This Thanksgiving, as we gather with our loved ones for a special meal, we can plan to give thanks for unknown blessings already on the way because to me, it’s the best way to feel connected to this universe and to all of you!
Happy Thanksgiving!
